The former NASCAR driver and Fox Sports analyst Clint Bowyer was cleared of any wrongdoing nearly two weeks after his car struck and killed a pedestrian on a Missouri highway.
Bowyer, whose BAC test showed no alcohol in his system, did not appear impaired at the time of the fatal crash, according to Lake Ozark Police Department (LOPD).
She was allegedly walking along Highway 54 exit ramp when Bowyer’s vehicle struck her. She was carrying a bag containing crystalline substances, among other items.
Clint Bowyer is cleared by police after an investigation
It was not until a thorough investigation had been conducted that the LOPD released the report, according to Chief Gary Launderville. A friend of the deceased woman confirmed that they had been drinking and using meth at a nearby RV park the day of the accident, according to him.
Launderville said, “I knew this was going to happen, that’s why we waited so long to write our report.”
As confirmed by the police, Bowyer stopped his car immediately after the crash to call 911, but the woman died at the scene. Bowyer’s last social media post was on June 5.
As a Fox Sports analyst, Bowyer is known for his sense of humor and light-hearted nature. He retired from NASCAR racing in 2020 after 15 years.
