Rafael Nadal’s schedule has been impacted by Spain’s elimination from the United Cup by Great Britain.
The champion of 22 Grand Slams, who signed up for the mixed team competition to get some practice ahead of the Australian Open (January 16 to 29), has played only one official match in singles before the first big tournament where he will be defending his crown, and it’s only 15 days left till the tournament begins.
Alex De Minaur will face him on Monday at Ken Rosewall Arena in Sydney, where he lost to Cameron Norrie in 2022.
Nadal can earn 40 points from his participation in the United Cup if he wins against Alex De Minaur.
Also, Casper Ruud is dangerously close to the top in the overall ranking, and if he wins Tuesday’s match against Matteo Berrettini, he will be 50 points ahead.
