Sergio Garcia takes a swipe at Rory McIlroy: Very sad, lacking maturity
Saudi Arabia’s Sovereign Wealth Fund is backing the newly launched LIV Golf series, which has attracted some of PGA’s top players.
One of the saddest outcomes of the entire saga could be the fallout between Sergio Garcia and Rory McIlroy.
As well as being Ryder Cup teammates, the two men were close friends, attending each other’s weddings, with McIlroy serving as Garcia’s groomsman at his wedding. Although McIlroy made it clear that he is not interested in fixing the relationship, he has deleted Garcia’s number after the advent of LIV.
As for Garcia, he believes McIlroy’s immaturity ultimately led to the situation and admits he is saddened by it.
Garcia told Telegraph Sport, “I think it’s very sad.”.
I don’t think it’s very mature of him to throw that away just because I decided to go on a different tour. It seems lacking maturity.
“But Rory has his own life and makes his own choices, just as I do. I respect his choices, but it seems he doesn’t respect mine.
LIV’s ability to listen to suggestions impressed Garcia
As compared to the PGA, Garcia cited LIV Golf’s ability to listen to player suggestions.
We had so much criticism when we started out last June that it unified us all, including the bosses.
