In Max Verstappen’s eyes, Checo Perez is a potential rival for the championship
Max Verstappen is treating Red Bull teammate Checo Perez like a serious World Drivers’ Championship rival.
Verstappen and Perez had a slight spat after the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, indicating Verstappen is tired of being outpaced by his Mexican teammate. Perez won the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, while Verstappen won Bahrain.
For the sake of ensuring they made it home without mechanical problems, both cars were instructed to keep a lap time of 1m 33s at the end of the race. Perez understood that neither card would go faster to get the fastest lap, while Verstappen pushed hard to get it.
The history of world champions in this motorsport has been forged this way, and Verstappen with Checo is no exception.
This is only the case of the Red Bull drivers, but it is not new. Lewis Hamilton was the champion before Verstappen.
During this time, the Briton also had problems with his teammate Nico Rosberg, and the two made statements against one another.
