Fernando Alonso: Hamilton must have a short memory, because it appears he is getting older
The Spaniard responded to his former teammate. Red Bull have won the opening two races of the new Formula 1 season, prompting Lewis Hamilton to describe their RB19 as “the most dominant car I have ever seen in sport.”
Fernando Alonso has responded by noting that some of Hamilton’s past Mercedes cars were also far ahead.
“I don’t agree with that,” Alonso replied in an interview with L’Equipe when asked about Hamilton’s claim.
“In Saudi Arabia, I finished 20 seconds behind Sergio Perez and Max Verstappen; however, in 2014 and 2015 he and Nico Rosberg were a minute ahead of all other competitors.”
“After two or three laps, they began sacrificing performance to save their engines.”
“His memory seems to be failing him; it could be indicative of his growing age.”
