Investigation Clears Former NASCAR Driver Clint Bowyer After Crash That Kills Pedestrian
The incident took place earlier this month, according to the Lake Ozark Police Department.
Nearly two weeks after NASCAR driver and Fox Sports analyst Clint Bowyer’s car struck and killed a pedestrian on an interstate in southwest Missouri, Bowyer was cleared of all wrongdoing.
According to police, an investigation by Lake Ozark Police Department (LOPD) identified the victim as 47-year-old Mary Simmons. A blood alcohol test revealed no alcohol in Bowyer’s system, and it appeared he wasn’t impaired at the time of the fatal crash, police noted.

Investigators reported that the pedestrian was carrying a bag containing what appeared to be a crystalline substance, among other items. She was allegedly walking along Highway 54’s exit ramp when Bowyer’s vehicle struck her.

According to LOPD Chief Gary Launderville, the department waited to release their report until after conducting a thorough investigation. A friend of the deceased woman confirmed that both had been drinking and using meth at a nerby RV Park on the day of the accident.

Launderville admitted, “We knew this was going to happen.” So they delayed filing their report until now to avoid making any mistakes.
